Vitamin E (as alpha Tocopheryl succinate) has powerful antioxidant properties that help promote skin health [1]. Vegetables such as cabbage leaf, celery seed, parsley leaf, and broccoli sprout as well as Diindolylmethane (DIM) support hormonal balance and detoxification [2, 10]. Astragaloside IV is the primary active ingredient of astragalus that has been used as a medical herb in Chinese cultures for over 1,000 years [1-3]. Research shows that astragaloside IV helps enhance DNA repair, which is essential for cells throughout the body including those in the skin, scalp, and hair follicles [3-5]. Astragaloside IV in astragalus heightens immune system function, cell longevity, anti-aging, and overall health [5, 6].Rosemary oil and tea tree oil target a substance that is associated with hair loss known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT) [7]. Turmeric supports overall health due to its powerful curcuminoids, including curcumin [8]. Pomegranate has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that support skin and hair health [9].
Optimal hormonal balance, thicker hair, and healthier skin;DHT blocking [1-10]
A hormonal imbalance may cause certain enzymes such as 5-alpha-reductase to begin to convert testosterone in men into a stronger substance called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Increased DHT levels leads to the accumulation of a thick, dandruff-like substance called sebum. Sebum can clog the roots of the scalp, which can subsequently disrupt nutrient transport to the scalp and hair follicles, thereby leading to hair loss. In addition, if the levels of DHT become too high the body struggles to break it down and DHT can start building up in the prostate. Vitamin E (as alpha Tocopheryl succinate) has anti-inflammatory, skin-smoothing, and photo-protecting properties, it helps the outer layer of the skin maintain its moisture, and it accelerates wound healing on the skin [1]. Vegetables such as cabbage leaf, parsley leaf, celery seed, and broccoli sprout as well as Diindolylmethane (DIM) contain antioxidants and fiber that promote hormonal balance by improving thyroid function and fiber absorbs waste in order to support detoxification [2, 10].
Research shows that astragaloside IV functions as a telomerase activator. Telomerase is the enzyme that is responsible for maintaining the length of telomeres by adding of guanine-rich repetitive sequences to the ends of telomeres [1-3]. Telomeres are the sequences of DNA at the ends of chromosomes. Enhanced telomerase activity leads to the maintenance of long telomeres, which increases cell survival, this enzyme also influences the activity of immune system cells, and the ability of astragaloside IV to reactivate the telomerase enzyme also leads to anti-aging as this enzyme protects the ends of chromosomes [4-6].
Turmeric boosts overall health due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, neuroprotective, and anti-fungal activity; these properties also support skin and hair health [8]. Pomegranate and jujube (which contain vitamin C) have antioxidant properties that target free radicals and other substances that may lead to skin and hair problems [9].
